Along, Way Down That Road

|
On Austin City Limits. November 9 2002 |
This is the place to start, and this is the man to start the journey through Birmingham's music scene, past and present, with. From The Band of Joy, to the remenants of The Yardbirds, through, Led Zeppelin to The Priory of Brion, and thus to his current band, Strange Sensation, Robert Plant has been there, at the forefront, the familiar voice soaring through every song he sings, whether it be traditional blue, traditional folk (yes it's true, click here to see Bob fronting Fairport Convention)
We'll be touching on all the phases of Plants career, though most of the photographs will be of Bob as he is now, we, here, at Sam and leila feel, that enough has been written about Led Zeppelin, to last a life time or two, which is not a bad thing by any means, but there is no real need to add anything else. There will be a couple of pictures of course, and a couple of links, but there are other stages that need to be looked at too.
Morning Dew

|
At the Festival in the Desert in Essakane, Mali (60 kilometers northwest of Timbuktu) |
As is stated elsewhere on this page, the sound sample you are listing to is Morning Dew, as sung by Bob's band, Priory of Brion. Morning Dew was made famous by the American singer Tim Rose . Though some sources give Tim Rose a co-writing credit, the song was in fact written and composed by the Canadian guitarist/songwriter, Bonnie Dobson, it is Rose's arrangement that is the most well known. The song has been on Bobs's song list for a few years now, so with that in mind, we decided to print the lyrics to the song, with a bit of the song's history as well as some information about Bonnie Dobson. All part of Sam and leila's desire to impart as much information as possible, to you, besides, we're huge fans of Robert Plant.....
A Note: Depending on who is sing Morning Dew, words seem to change. The lyrics printed below are Bonnie Dobson's originals.
Morning Dew
Take me for a walk in the morning dew, my honey Take me for a walk in the morning sun, my love You can't go walking in the morning dew today You can't go walking in the morning sun today
But listen, I hear a man moaning, lord Oh yes, I hear a man moaning, lord You didn't hear a man moan at all You didn't hear a man moan at all
But I thought I heard my baby crying mama Oh yes I hear my baby crying mama You'll never hear your baby cry again You'll never hear your baby cry again
Oh where have all the people gone? Won't you tell me, where have all the people gone? Don't you worry 'bout the people any more Don't you worry 'bout the people any more
Won't you take me for a walk in the morning dew my love Please take me for a walk in the morning sun my honey You can't go walking in the morning dew today You can't go walking in the morning sun today
But listen, I hear a man moaning lord Oh you didn't hear a man moan at all But I'm sure I hear my baby crying mama You'll never hear your baby cry again
Oh where have all the people gone? Won't you tell me where have all the poeple gone? Don't you worry about the people any more Oh don't you worry about the people any more Don't you worry about the people any more
